It was strange when we were driving home from the horse competition at Hella on saturday the 21st of May and we saw a very strange cloud rising up, when we looked north. At first we were not sure that this was a volcano eruption since we had not heard anything in the news. When we came home there was no doubt, another eruption!!... not quite what we wish for every year . At first on the saturday the volcano looked quite nice from the disctance of our farm Skeiðvellir but the next day it changed allot when the wind from the north came over the south of Iceland. During the last final in Hella on sunday, the tölt final in open class 1 the wind was getting quite strong and allot of ash came with it. The good news though is that the horses seems to be fine and the foals and mares that we were mostly worried about are also doing good. Today it does not look so dark here at Skeiðvellir and we hope that it stays that way!
I took a photo of the farm Skeiðvellir when we came home at 18.00 on Sunday and it is looking very dark. Only 3 hours later I took another photo from the same spot and you can see how much worse it got in only 3 hours.
